We are entitled to service even new cars without affecting the validity of the manufacturer's
warranty. We fully understand why owners do continue to have their cars serviced at main
dealers for the first 3 years or until the manufacturer's warranty expires.
Once the vehicle is 3 years old however, we think people should think twice before paying
main dealer pricing for servicing. Many of the Main Dealers in Exeter are charging
£75 to £90 per hour (some even more than that) as well as stingingly outrageous prices for
such things as light bulbs, wiper blades and engine oil. In spite of paying top dollar, we have
found that customers are often dissatisfied with the quality of service they experience at some
main dealers. The outcome is that often owners will deliberately "forget" routine maintenance
rather than pay stupid prices even for intermediate services. But missed services are proven
to lead to higher costs in the long run and these are the cars that break down most frequently.
We believe that all cars covering average, or close to average mileage, should be
PROPERLY maintained annually and that no car should go for more than 2 years without
a full inspection service.
